William Gerrard Torjesen

William Gerrard Torjesen, 69, passed away from this life to his eternal home on February 20, 2025. A private burial took place at the Bisbee Presbyterian Cemetery in. Bisbee, ND.

William “Gerrard” was born in Brooklyn, New York to parents Charles Torjesen and Margaret Ann Gerrard on August 31, 1955. He was a beloved brother to sisters Ann White and Christine Torjesen. Gerrard lived at home with his family until 1980 when Gerrard moved to his home at Bethphage (now Mosaic) in Axtell, NE. Gerrard remained there until 1983 when he moved to Mosaic in Des Moines to be closer to his family.

Gerrard was a kind and loving person who, in life, enjoyed the journey more than the destination. He was always looking to go places, but only for a short while. He loved car rides. His favorite activity was getting fries and a milkshake before sitting at the park and watching the animals and people. He enjoyed being home, hanging out with his housemates and favorite staff, but most of all preferred time to himself. Gerrard loved a good joke and had a unique sense of humor. Photos show him with his housemates, hamming it up for the camera. He enjoyed being well dressed and always preferred a hat on his head to “go out.” He was a gentle soul and loved by so many whose lives he touched. Gerrard will be deeply missed by those who cared for him.

Gerrard is survived by his nephew, Joseph Carter. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Ann Gerrard Torjesen; his father, Charles W Torjesen; his sister, Christine Torjesen; his sister, Ann White; and his brother-in-law, John White.
