William E. Unrau

I was a student of Dr. Unrau when I attended undergraduate studies at WSU from 1967-71. He was a major influence on my academic and work life. He loved movies and would often talk about the movies he'd seen. Everyone loved to attend his classes. My deepest sympathies to the family. He left an incredible legacy. I'm sorry I never got a chance to tell him that.

Dr. Bill Unrau was my main teacher since I majored in history at Bethany in Kansas. Many of us liked especially his Great Issues course. I applaud his enthusiasm, scholarship, and friendship. It's an honor to have a sister, Lois, receive the Bethany award the year he did and for my brother, Laurence (Larry), to say that Bill was his best friend. Blessings. "Willy" (Bethany College, 1959)

I never had a class under Dr. Unrau but he knew me and encouraged me during my time as a graduate student at WSU. It was a pleasure to have known him and I am sorry to hear of his passing.

It was a great privilege to have Bill as my history professor at Bethany College--a totally captivating class even though it wasn't necessarily my interest. I loved his lectures. It was an added bonus to be able to maintain periodic contact over the years--in Wichita, and through my brother and sister-in-law in Boulder. Sharing Bethany College's Alumni Merit Award presentation with him in 1997 humbled me enormously as I was in such awe of his intellect and accomplishments. My deepest sympathy...

Bill Unrau was a true scholar and good friend. He was an inspiration to me and many other historians. His scholarship will live on and instruct future generations. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I was a student of Dr. Unrau in the 1970s, taking two History courses from him. I learned a lot in his classes and respected him greatly. It was a privilege to know him. My condolences to the family.

I still recall all the fun we had at Gluttony Society dinners way back when. Sorry for your loss. Bill was a great person to have known.

Bill Unrau had an office across the hall from Albert Parker with whom I worked for on and one-half semesters during my graduate work. I was fortunate enough to take his Trans-Mississippi West course during that time. I was privileged to have him attend a guest lecture I gave on one of my trips back to the university. As has been noted he was a gentleman and a scholar!!! Take comfort in our faith that one day all believers in Jesus Christ will be reunited in Heaven. "In My Father's house...
