Not sure what to say?

I am glad you shared a life with Bill.

My sincerest condolences to your family. I only read the very sad news of Bill's passing yesterday, and am still in a state of disbelief that a person of Bill's vibrant and creative intellect, a colleague, and a man of my own age, could be felled by Alzheimer's disease. I got to know Bill as well as his colleague Jim Armitage while I was stationed at the U.S. Air Force hospital at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha just after completing my haematology-oncology fellowship in 1985. I would...

Dr . Vaughan was my mentor both clinically and also with laboratory research during my time at UNMC. Not only was he a great clinician and researcher, he displayed strong professionalism and character. He was a great teacher in all these aspects and influenced me greatly. I´m grateful for this. My sympathies to his family and friends

What a great man. ALways had great conversations with him. Learned about Professionalism as well. Rest In Peace Bill.

Hannah: As you well know we remain deeply indebted to you and to your kind and generous dad for helping us find exactly the right oncologist and good friend of his in NC to undertake my ( Jack's) lymphoma care. Not only finding him but for paving the way for my earlier access to him than would otherwise have been the case. Our only personal encounter with him at dinner here in Greensboro still stands as a night of delight and confirms the obituary testimony of his pleasure taken in good...

Frances, Hannah, Joe and Perry, We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. We have fond memories of being with him in Cape Cod, enjoying the sailing and lobster. With love, Jeanne and Mike Leonard

Our prayers are with Cara, Esther and all of Bill's family. We both consider Bill as one of our closest friends. He took part in our wedding. I (David) always valued the 4 years when we were roommates at Rice University. We shared many interests including the practice of medicine, love of politics and of scouting. Bill was a pioneer oncologist and a wonderful person. We will miss him very much.

Hannah - Our sincere sympathy and prayers as you mourn. We pray for comfort in the blessing of precious memories. While we only met him briefly, seeing the love of family was obvious. His light will forever shine through each of you! Love to all Mike and Susan

I have known Dr. Vaughan since the time he joined UAB. As a Thoracic Radiologist at UAB, he and I interacted with each other both clinically and academically quite a bit. His daughter Hannah and my daughter Swathi were classmates in Vestavia Hills schools. Dr. Vaughan was a remarkable gentleman in many aspects. Heartfelt condolences to the family. Hindu philosophy states that all life has to end, but the deeds of the individual survive the deceased, and they indeed will be remembered by...
