Not sure what to say?

With fondness I remember Bill: as a spiritual leader who led a thought-provoking retreat for pastors in the Baltimore-West Conference; as a genial friend and co-worker in the Lutheran Lay Fellowship of Metropolitan Washington; and finally, as one whose leadership inspired Georgetown Lutheran Church to fund the Wegener Chaplaincy which both inspired and funded me in my ministry to more than 800 seniors for 17 years at Fellowship Square Foundation. Bill's contributions and their memories live on!

Dearest Ellie and Family,

Lightning and I are deeply sorry to learn of Reverend Wegener's untimely death. A man of conviction and faith, he embodied the true meaning of life, with the love and devotion from his immediate family.

He will be greatly missed! For all who knew him are better people because of him.

May God be with you, now and forever. Peace be with you all.

Peace and Friendship,
Susan Bainbridge and Lightning

Ellie,
We certainly will miss Bill. He was a great friend and fellow singer.
You are in our prayers.

Dear Ellie and Wegener Family,

I mourn Bill's passing and celebrate his life. Bill enabled so many to share joy, to share journeys, and to share justice for grace-sake. He had a gentle gift of weaving human connections. In turn, we continue to rekindle his compassion for local and global community as well as his keen awareness of that nexus in the midst of personal crossroads. He has been a mentor, chaplain, shepherd, friend.

I appreciated his campus ministry at The...

Ellie and family,

Bill was always such a welcoming, encouraging, and affirming presence amid the bustle and sometimes chaotic cacophony of progressive politics. Everyone always says, "The Wegeners will take care of Westmoreland Precinct; they have it covered." That will surely continue but will miss Bill.

Dear Ellie and family, So sorry to hear of your loss. You have both been such strong leaders in our community. It has been a pleasure and an honor to have known and shared ministry with you. God bless. Don Piper

Dear Ellie: Bill was a man of deep faith and also a man who was unafraid to share that faith. What was also wonderful was that he had a amazing sense of humor. I will miss the twinkle in his eye!

Dear Ellie and family: I remember that Bill and Jim Herd of our congregation at Emmanuel went back a long way, and that Ellen Herd would want me to include her in my condolence message today.

God's Blessings as you celebrate Bill's life and ministry.

Jan P. Lookingbill, Pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church

We have the blessed assurance of meeting again but he will be missed. Our prayers are with you, God Bless
