Not sure what to say?

We shall all miss Bill. He was a good friend, a wise advisor, and a loyal supporter of his many interests and those who also pursued them.

I always enjoyed Bill's wit and honesty. We had some wonderful conversations about life and spirituality. I remember talking with him about planning a tv show about spirituality and he said one of my favorite all-time lines, "Well, let's just have the chickens and no roosters." He just wanted to hear from the people not the clergy. Although I moved from State College in 2005, I've always enjoyed knowing that he was at the helm of town leadership. Sorry to hear of your loss. Though I did not know Mayor Welch personally I knew of him through Jennifer and Mark who had so much love and respect for him. My condolences. Sharon Morse, formerly of Bellefonte, PA.

I am very sorry for your loss!

Bill Welch was one of the smartest and kindest people I have known -- a rare combination in a university town. I will forever be grateful for his gentle encouragement. Sending love to the family and assurance that he will motivate me to aspire, ever, to do better.

"Hizzoner" was a remarkable man in many respects. He will certainly be missed by the many who knew and appreciated him.

Over a fifty year period, Bill's calm demeanor, courteous behavior, gentle humor, and insatiable curiosity have added immeasurably to Centre County and to my personal sense of community. I will always have fond memories of Bill's kindness, his magnetism, and his quiet leadership. Another member of Hoy's joins the players in the great heavenly arcade: I believe he'll have an amazing adventure in the afterlife. Here in our dimension, I will miss having him somewhere not too far from me in a...
