Not sure what to say?

Whatt. More than a friend, he was a father. Hunting, fishing, football, coaching, golfing, driving, always a mentor. Soo many fond childhood memories all created because of this great man. Hunting in Immokolee, dove, quail n hog with Pebbles his German Pointer. Always teaching gun safety. Making me drive him to the golf course in his lil green Datsun pickup when i was 13. Fishing for spanish makeral inside FL Bay in his yellow SeaCraft using yellow jigs and filling the boat. Yes Blake, i...

The Ernest Hemingway of our mid 1960's era, he taught his footballers and baseballers how to properly play the game and turned boys into men. My own coaching style was modeled after him. The hunting trips and deep sea fishing was a bonus I will never forget. Joe Whitelock, Grey Ghost '68 and '69

The best fishing trip I ever went on. Thank you Bill, for all those fishing trips and so much more. We have a life time of memories to remember....and we will Gary Speed, Grey Ghost 60-61, Friend. 60-Forever

What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; What we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal - YOU are leaving so much for the rest of us to live by and learn. Good Bye is not an option, but for now my friend, our dear mentor So Long will have to do. I will miss YOU my family will miss you ..... 4 ever and a day .

Mr Whatley gave so much to so many. Fishing trips, Flea Markets, Baseball in the park, Batting advice and so much more.
Never asked for anything in return.
I'm lucky and grateful to have known him and been in his company.

I'm grateful to the Rembisz family for looking out and caring for him.

He will be missed.
I hope someone throws a bag of Beechnut in his casket for me!

Coach Whatley was one of my favorites at the South Miami Junior High field for baseball and football. I laughed about the chewing tobacco stories cause it was all true. He could handle it but made sure the kids never got too far along those roads. He was a terrific leader and role model for all of us. I remember him well and his influence on all of the youth from those days was never properly recognized and I am sure we are all better people from his direction. He is not to be forgotten!

"Uncle Bill" was my grandfather's brother--I still remember getting to see him every year on his birthday, which was 2 days after Christmas. He'd always bring my brother and I more gifts than he ever received. Plus he let us climb onto the roof of his van, which was awesome. Our family will miss him, but his memory will live on.

Coach Whatley was a father figure to me.He took me and chet G. on a three day fishing trip to the dry tortuges, where Sam Braighwaite caught a 106lb wahoo record fish that year in the Keys. And where I tried a chewing tobaco for the first time. Coach told me not too swallow the juice. To late coach I had all ready swallowed and was getting sick, coach told me to suck it up we were not turning back....Hunting trips to his camp in Immoklee Fl. Where I learn to shoot a shot gun Reker style....
