How sorry I was to learn of Bill's passing. He was a friend as well as my boss at Rickenbacker. He encouraged (and pushed!) me to transition from the clerical field to contract administration and took personal pride that I retired as the OANG Base Contracting Officer at Rickenbacker. We remained in contact and he visited us at our retirement home in TN. He was a unique person and most influential in my life. He will be missed.

Col Widdows will be greatly missed at ROA meetings. He was a great champion of benefits for fellow reservists.

I am so sorry to here about Col Widdows passing. I worked for him at Rickenbacker, and then saw him for many years at our Squadron Christmas partys. He was a good man and will be missed.

My prayers go out to Bill and his family. I worked for many years as a reservist. I also worked with him closely for several years at the state level of the Reserve Officer Association. I was always impressed with Bill's ability, dedication and hard work. He will be missed - may he rest in peace.

I flew for Col Bill Widdows as a pilot in the 302nd at Rickenbacker ANGB. As our Commander, Bill had the extremely difficult job of converting the unit from C-123s to C-130s. He always took care of his people. He continued to visit the unit at the annual Christmas party for many years after he retired. Bill will be greatly missed. God bless him and his family.

This was a shocking and terrible surprise. At our reunion Bill seemed fine and dandy. I can only assume that this was a sudden passing. I hope and pray that Bill passed away as a result of the excitement and glee of having just made a hole-in-one.

Although Bill wasn't an "original uncle" to us, it was very easy feeling like he'd been apart of the family for years. We so enjoyed sharing experiences of Europe over a nice cold BEvERage as well as enjoying Christmas day time. There are many golf games we are missing, but know he's shooting PAR on much nicer courses than we have here! Thought of often, missed deeply! Love, Jeff, Sue, Candace, & Josh Lyons
