WIELAND, William "Bill"

70, entered into the arms of God, November 6, 2018, following a courageous 26 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born in Peoria, Illinois, to George and Virginia Wieland, who preceded him in death. Bill moved to Tampa in 1984 to pursue his career in the Health Care Management Industry. Bill served in the United States Military Reserves from 1970-1976. He was a member of the Florida Association of Realtors, Healthcare Information Systems Management Systems Society, and Zeta Phi Chapter of Sigma Nu undergraduate college fraternity. During the past 10 years, Bill served on the board of his community's homeowners association, serving as President of the last five years. Bill loved spending time with family and friends, cycling, the Gulf beaches, and high performance cars of all types. Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joyce Wieland; brother, Randy Wieland (wife, Karen); sisters, Kathi Gaines, Pam Sommer (husband, Kevin); one son; four nephews; three nieces; two great-nephews; and two great-nieces. Joyce's parents, Norma and Doug Olson, both loved Bill like a son. The Wieland family is deeply grateful for the excellent care given Bill by the skilled physicians at Moffitt Cancer Center and their teams, Dr. Pamela Hodul MD and Dr. Dae Kim MD, and Dr. Norman Castellano MD with Florida Medical Group. The family would also like to recognize the employees at Concordia Medical Center for their professionalism, kindness, and understanding during Bill's final days with us. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, November 11, 4 pm, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 14920 Hutchison Road, Tampa, FL 33625. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made out to William Wieland Pancreatic Research Fund.
