Read MoreBill was my "Lead Ranger" at Everglades National Park in the early 80´s. He quickly became a friend. Now retired I look back at my time with him as one of the reasons I was inspired to continue a career in the NPS. Fabulous memories. Just now learned of his passing and it takes my breath away. I met Bill and his family in the early 1970s. I lived with Aunt Ruth for a short time. We spent many hours talking about his future plans. He had many expectations for his life. I see that all of his dreams came true. He was a wonderful person. I have fond memories. God Bless all of his family.

Bill´s big heart, quick wit, endless humor, extensive knowledge of nature, and natural ability to share all of that with others made him an amazing, and unforgettable friend. I was lucky to visit Bill in the Everglades, Smoky Mountains, and Yellowstone. Each time was a new exciting adventure and a life-long story to share. Bill was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed. May his soul rest among under the stars and among the nature he he so vigorously shared with others.
