Not sure what to say?

William will always be in my thoughts. It was such a shock to learn of his death on the local radio.
As a Lancashire Lad myself, and living only a short distance from his Birthplace,I can only tell of the great read his books have given me. Even today as I walked past the Statue on the "parade" William was with me.
My heartfelt condolences to Helga and family.

May god bless this family. The things that Mr. Woodruff has accomplished is just extravagant. His words of wisdom was to be humble and I just want to say thank you so much for sharing these words of encouragement and guidance as I go through life each day. Thank you and you will truely be missed.

I am truely sorry for the loss of such a great man. My prayers are with the whole family. May God Bless this family and remember he is always watching over his family now and forever.

To the Woodruff family
I would like to you to know that both of Mr Woodruff books are, in my opinion, in the greatest american novel categroy. Was given his books to get an insite on life in Lanchashire when I was doing my family tree and I will forever cherish his words. Thank you William and rest in peace.

Unannounced, Bill Woodruff knocked on the door of the Norton home, walked right in and said, "I suppose you don't know who I am!" to Mr. Norton who was absolutely silenced! My mother-in-law, Patricia Norton Hoover, said he brought a lot of fond memories to the family. And I know that her sister, Professor Nancy Norton, very much appreciated their fifty year friendship, his humor and his Joie de vivre. God bless him, and you, Helga, and all your family. I scarcely knew Bill Woodruff, because he retired from the business school at UF before I joined the faculty. But I admired him greatly, and I read and loved his book about growing up in hard times. And I enjoyed running into him in Goerings. Truly a life well lived.

Helga. . . our condolences, along with fond memories.

Helga and the Woodruff Family:
Bill was one of the wisest and most entertaining people I have ever met. I so enjoyed getting to know him through my work at the university. His books were testaments to the human spirit. I'm so glad I got to visit with him last year. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
