Not sure what to say?

Thank you for being an amazing teacher at cphs

Sammy, so sorry to hear about this. Hope you get in touch!

Mr. Zidbeck was my high school biology teacher. I’m the spring of my freshman year I was volunteering for some function at the school when I my dad saw Mr. Zidbeck and asked me who he was. I told him he was one of the biology teachers. Little did I know at the time that my dad had served under Mr. Zidbeck while in the Navy. I was to take biology the next school year and dad made sure I was in Mr. Zidbeck’s class. He was a great teacher. He taught as he lived, always fair and forthright in his...

Captain Zidbeck was my first Commanding Officer at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He's responsible for my career in the Navy, and I'm thankful and blessed to say I stayed in touch with him over the years, and I send my condolences to his son, Scott, his daughter Suzy, and the rest of the "Z's" He will be missed, but, he will live on through his family first, but, all of us who knew him. TCAMGB (Take care and may God Bless). Very Respectfully, Bob Haner

Bill was an Officer Instructor at USC in the Naval ROTC programs when I was a student Midshipman in 1960. He was an outstanding example of a Naval officer for all of us to emulate. He was also the Class Advisor to my Senior class during 1961 and 1962. After graduating from USC and going off to serve in the Fleet we lost touch for quite a few years. In the 1990s we connected again as Bill and I were now both retired Captains. He attended many USC Naval ROTC alumni events over the years...

my friend bill was one o finest people Iknew and I am very glad tohave known him..he will be missed

Bill was a kind, intelligent and generous man who loved his family, his country and his community of Imperial Beach. He will be missed.

What a wonderful man. LT Zidbeck was my NROTC instructor at the University of Southern California in 1960. I only met him again a few years ago at a USC get together, where we caught up on the missing 50 years. All the Navy talk aside, what I most remember about this visit was the heart-warming story he told about how he first met and romanced Jody at Stanford. This, and how he also adopted two children, is how I will always remember Bill.

I got to know Bill over the past 10+ years through the Legendary Book Club of Stanford alums. He was one of my favorite people. He always had something thoughtful to say about the books we discussed and always brought a bottle of wine to share. I have missed his participation since the Covid shutdown, as our meetings went to Zoom and he was not able to join in. Bill was a gentleman and a great cook and added to my life. He will be missed. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
