Roberts Funeral Services - Birmingham Obituary

Mr. Willie Edward Carson, affectionately known to family and friends as "Snoot", was born August 31,1935 in Union Town, Alabama to the late Jimmy and Mary E. Carson.  The family lately moved to Bessemer, Alabama.

At an early age Willie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend Green. Willie also served under Reverend Taylor and Reverend Cornelius Harris. He was a faithful Sunday School teacher and a member of the Trustee Board at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Willie was united in Holy Matrimony to Catherine Honeycutt on November 20,1957.  They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Cheryl Rene and Cynthia Faye.

He attended Dunbar High School until the 11th grade, then got a job working as an orderly at Bessemer General Hospital. While walking home from work one day Willie met his future wife, Catherine, who was also walking home from work.

Bessemer General Hospital was just a starting point for young Willie.  He then went on to work for Brownville Pipe Company.  Snoot was determined to provide for his young family. He later went to work for Jim Walters Number 3 Mine for over thirty years and retired in 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Mary Carson, a sister, Rosa Mae Gray and four brothers: Roosevelt "Nig" Carson, James "Foots" Carson, Clarence "Deal" Carson and R.J. "Sporty B" Carson.

Willie was loved and cherished by his faithful and devoted wife, Catherine Carson, two daughters, Cheryl Rene (David) Williams of Birmingham and Cynthis Faye (Donald) Jones of Madison, Georgia; one loyal sister, Mary Weatherspoon of Bessemer; grandchildren, Christopher Williams (Preceded him in death), Davis Micheal II and Daniel Williams, Jonathan (Sherry) Jones and Jeremy Jones; great grandchildren; Blake Jones, Calleigh Jones, David Williams III and a host of other relatives and friends.
