On 02/12/2015, the "McKinstry Family House" at 2236 Ishkooda Road SW, Jefferson County, Birmingham, Alabama, was added to the Alabama Register of Historical Landmarks, by the Alabama Historical Commission, The State Historic Preservation Office. This is the house where Mrs. McKinstry lived with her late husband Willie McKinstry (WJLD broadcaster and gospel singer) and their children. This is a great honor for Mrs. McKinstry (posthumous) and the McKinstry Family.
