Jackson Memorial Funeral Service - Jackson Obituary

Willie Lee Perkins, Jr. was born on May 6, 1955, to the union of Mr. Willie Lee Perkins, Sr. and Virginia Perkins, who both preceded him in death. He was the fourth of thirteen siblings. Two siblings preceded him in death Bobby Perkins and Virgina Ann Trotter. He was married to the late Ruby Gene Perkins and to this union were two children.

He obtained his education in the Jackson Public School System but later had to start working early in life as a teenager. Most of his life's career was spent as a dedicated mechanic. He was a hard worker and dependable mechanic and friend.

Jr. had a gift for drawing. He enjoyed sketching pictures of his family and spending time with his family and neighbors.

Jr. was intelligent and believed in self-determination, self-motivation, and self-medication. There was nothing that he could not fix, and there was nothing he did not have a remedy for.

God blessed Jr. to go through some locked gates and to come out a renewed man. Later in life, his spirituality was awakened when he came to Greater Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Church under the pastoral of Bishop Robert N. Fortson, Sr. and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins on September 13, 2009.

During Jr's journey, his health issues became an everyday struggle. On May 8, 2020, Jr. loss his battle, which was never his but the Lord's. Jr always believed The Lord is his Shepard.

He was a loving, fun, and wonderful brother, father, uncle, and friend. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish two daughters: Pamela N. Robinson and LaTanya Perkins-Norwood (both of Jackson, MS); son: Willie L. Perkins, III (Atlanta, GA); grandchildren: Christopher, Crystal, Emerald, Lamario, and Damario Robinson (all of Jackson, MS) and Skylar Norwood (Jackson, MS); sisters: Joann Smith (Larry) (Canton, MS), Crissanna White (Wilbert) (Columbia, SC), Betty Bennett (Clinton, MS), Janet Thomas (Madison, MS), Shirley Perkins (Jackson,MS), Sylvia Johnson (Anthony) (Jackson, MS); brothers: James Perkins, Germany; Robert Perkins (Betty) (all of Jackson, MS) and Tyrone Perkins (Melissa) (Nashville, TN), a host of aunts and uncles', nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and two special neighbors Bonnie Magee "ole girl" and Luezina Smith.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in path of righteousness for his names' sake. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou ainotiest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalms 23, KJV
