Willie Lawrence Spears was born in New Albany, Mississippi April 4, 1950, to Mary Lou Spears and Willie L. Spears. Both parents, one brother, J. J. Harris and two sisters, Janic Woodruff and Mary Barnes preceded him in death.

He confessed his life to God at an early age. He was a member of Watson Grove Baptist Church in New Albany, MS.

Willie graduated from B. F. Ford High School in New Albany, MS. After high school he was drafted into the U. S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. After a short return to his hometown, Willie moved to Kansas City, MO. He first worked at Sears at 18th and Cleveland for many years. He then worked and retired from the Kansas City, MO Police Department after 20 years of service.

Willie loved life. He enjoyed sharing his life knowledge with his loved ones and friends. He was fondly known as ?Uncle Buzzy? to his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed his music and dancing.

Willie was first married to Mary Ann Hopkins. Mary Ann also preceded him in death. Later in life he married Yolanda Robinson on March 1, 2013.

Willie L. Spears departed this life on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Kansas City Missouri Veteran Hospice Center resulting from his fight with cancer.

He leaves to mourn and forever cherish his memory: four brothers, John Harris (Gwen) of Tom?s River, NJ, Harry Spears (Melodee) of Kansas City, MO, Richard Spears (Bill)o Phoenix, AZ and James Spears (Carolyn) of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Dorothy Palmer of Evanston, IL and Cecelia Spears of Kansas City, MO and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. Spears were held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.
