Willis Earl Hiday

PENDLETON- W. Earl Hiday, 89, of Pendleton, passed away April 10, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospice, after a brief illness. He was born November 9, 1919 in Anderson, the son of Francis and Gertrude (Ireland) Hiday. He was a life long Madison County resident, a WWII Army veteran of the European Theater and a recipient of the Bronze Star. He had been a tool maker for the Pierce Governor Company and the Ford Motor Company. He was a good hearted man that enjoyed life, the company of family and friends, being outdoors, fishing, working in his garden, and being a grandfather to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter; Brenda Chapman of West Bloomfield, MI; two granddaughters; Jamalee (husband, Jeffery) Burgoon of West Bloomfield, MI and Julie Ann Chapman of Carmel; four great grandchildren; Brianne, Ellie, Grace and Gavin Burgoon, all of West Bloomfield MI.; and sister-in-laws; Mayme (husband, John ) Ballentine of Anderson, Mary Carpenter of Yorktown and Darlene Simmons of Markleville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Louise Hiday; brothers; Charles Hiday and Francis Hiday; and sisters, Wilma Huse and Vivian Osenbaugh.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Zirkle officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park with VFW Post 266 conducting military honors.

Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. Thursday.
