BAKER, Wilma Rayoma - Of Flint, age 83, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center. Visitation 6-8PM Thursday and 11AM-2PM and 4-8PM Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Tom Settlemyre officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Wilma was born in Hayti, Ohio on May 17, 1923, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Adams and was a resident of the Flint area since the age of four. She married World War II veteran, Lee Baker, on October 20, 1945 and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1992. She was a 1941 graduate of Flint Central High School and graduated from GMI in 1943 with an Associate's degree. She was a member of VFW Flushing Post #5666 Auxiliary. Wilma was an avid Bridge player. She was employed by AC Spark Plug Division from 1941 to 1943 and then worked for Buick Engineering from 1943 to 1944. Surviving are her sons, Charles L. and wife Kay Baker of Durand, Gary L. and wife Diane Baker of Swartz Creek; daughter, Sharon Ann and husband Robert E. Sturgis of Lennon; 9 grandchildren, Todd Baker, Tammy Stagman, Tina Whitten, Lisa Baker, Jill Hartfelder, Bob M. Sturgis, Steve Sturgis, Lorrie Holmes, Cynthia Petts; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty S. Gaynor; sister-in-law, Ginger Adams; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Pauline Mince; special friend, Cuddles. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Adams. I always enjoyed taking care of Wilma when I worked at DCC. I now work at Genesys, I went to visit her while she was recently their on 4-North. I am so sorry for your loss.
