Obituary

Godfrey, Wilson, MD Passed away peacefully on September 30, 2007, at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Mary Ellen, father of Curt (Gayle), Susan (Bob Young), and Heather (John Gauper), and grandpa to seven grandchildren. Wilson received his medical degree and radiologic training from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He was influential in building Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina in 1960, and designed the original radiology department there. Wilson later served as the hospital's Chief of Staff from 1969-1970 and Chief of Radiology from 1969-1984. In addition, he was one of four founders of the Suburban Radiologic Consultants (now Suburban Imaging) whose physicians now number in the 60s. He retired in 1989. Wilson had a great sense of humor and loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was active in Edina Youth Hockey, coaching for many years. He loved tennis and golf and continued to play both until earlier this year. Out of their steadfast love of animals, he and Mary Ellen founded the Amigos de los Animales in Mazatlan, MX for the adoption of homeless animals. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate care-giving staff of Fairview Hospice Services and N.C. Little Hospice in Edina. A family-only service was held earlier. In lieu of flowers, Wilson requested memorial gifts to: Amigos de los Animales 16526 W. 78th St. #173 Eden Prairie, MN 55346-4302
