BARTHOLOMEW, Wilton - Of Flint, age 74, died Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 12PM Saturday, October 6,2007 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Roger VanDonkelaar officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery with military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family. Visitation 11AM-3 and 5-8PM Friday and 10AM Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Wilton was born in Brighton, Indiana December 6, 1932, the son of the late Oscar and Lucille (Wagner) Bartholomew. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and also served in the National Guard for 6 years. On March 23, 1953 he married Betty Fent in Flint. He liked woodworking, fishing, hunting, reading and watching westerns; Doris Day being his favorite actress. Mr. Bartholomew retired from General Motors Plant #9 as an electrician, with 40 years of service, retiring in 1995. Surviving are wife of 54 years, Betty of Flint; children, Carl (Sherry) Bartholomew of Flint; Tina (Joe) Jennings of Saginaw, Diane (Don) Smith of Columbiaville, George (Michelle) Bartholomew, Tammy Bartholomew and Bradley (Mary) Bartholomew II, all of Flint; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Oscar Bartholomew of Mt. Morris and Raymond (Sue) Borgert of Bronson, Michigan; sister, Wilma Kreckman of Otsego; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Shirley Bartholomew. Special thank you to Heartland Hospice and nurse aide, Lisa Smith.
