Not sure what to say?

Remembered with admiration from late forties when we lived opposite Griffin's Store, Ohaeawai. My father was a Post Office telegraphist and Winkie was a town idol and probably my first hero. I have 'name-dropped'Winkie over the years though never met her since those days.

Winnie and I met at Ardmore during thr 1950 Empire games we corresponded for several years. Her letters were alwaay illustrated with humorous little figures. I have great memories of those wonderful days. Lynn Mayer
