Freay Funeral Home - Mayville Obituary

With hearts filled with love for a life well-lived and fond memories overflowing, we celebrate the remarkable journey of Winifred Sirianno (McCullough), who departed on Valentine's Day at the age of 89. "Winnie," as she was affectionately known, brought the luck of the Irish with her wherever she roamed. Her love for her family was as vast as the rolling hills of County Cork. As a mother, her strength and unconditional love guided her children, nieces, and nephews with gentle grace and unwavering support. Her home was always open, her hearth always warm. To her grandchildren, Gramma Winnie was a source of endless joy and wonder. She showered them affectionately, regaling them with her never-ending stories and imparting timeless wisdom passed down through generations. Her love knew no bounds, and her memory lives on in the hearts of those she held dear.

Winnie's love of Pt. Chautauqua and the Lake was a lifelong love she shared with John, her husband, that spanned decades and filled their hearts with boundless joy. Together, they found peace in the gentle lapping of the waves, serenity in sunsets, and happiness in endless family adventures. Chautauqua was more than just a body of water—it was their sanctuary for music, art, dance, and a moonlight boat ride home, sharing ice cream cones with dear friends.

Winifred's passion for collecting antiques reflected her curiosity about the past and appreciation for the stories woven into each piece. Their home was filled with trinkets and treasures, each with a memory and a special place in her heart—a testament to a life well lived and a legacy of love.

Though Winnie's presence may no longer grace our world, her spirit lives on in the laughter of her loved ones: four sons, Edward (Kelly Zehler), John (Marlene Brigiotta), Thomas (Karen Perry), Michael (Melissa Keefe), eleven grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A joy-filled celebration of her life will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, February 23, at Freay Funeral Home, Mayville, N.Y., where friends and family can gather and share stories and laughter. A mass on Saturday, the 24th, at 10:00 AM, will be held at St. Mary's R.C. Church.

May the road rise to meet you, Gramma Winnie. May the wind be always at your back. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Sláinte agus go raibh maith agat.

Not sure what to say?

Winnie was my neighbor at Point Chautauqua for 12 years. When I visited the lake, Winnie would be sitting on her porch. I enjoyed many stories about Chautauqua. She will hold a special place in my heart. My sympathy to the family.

Winnie and John were two of my favorites on Point Chautauqua. They were always approachable and friendly, always welcoming, always devoted to maintaining the quality of living in our wonderful community. Noting the loss of Winnie will be a great loss to the Point Chautauqua community.

My sincerest condolences and prayers to you all. I knew Winnie from St Mary's Church.

My condolences to Winnie’s sons and family I am Blessed to have known Winnie for many years. She was a joy.. she was kind.. she told you like it was and Her Faith was always foremost.

Dear John and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear mother. May her memory always be a blessing.

Winnie was a straight shooter! You knew where you stood with her. She was intelligent and loving. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. I know she will be missed.

I will always remember her funny stories she shared and her green sweater on St. Patrick's Day! A life well lived.

Ed, John, Thom, and Mike, I was deeply saddened to read about the passing of your mom. She was a very kind, wise, and thoughtful lady who influenced and encouraged many of us at MCS. My deepest condolences to you and your families.

Winnie was a dear friend and an example of a giving, caring and Christian woman who I will miss terribly. My love and prayers to her family. Fly high my dear Winnie!
