WINIFRED "WINNIE" WOODS

Winifred (Winnie) Woods, age 79, of Sedro-Woolley, died January 11, 2008 of lung cancer which she had previously beat in 1991, at the family home with her daughter by her side.

She was born May 30, 1928 in Warwick, RI, graduating as Valedictorian from high school in Warwick.

She worked as a bookkeeper for ALCOA in Providence, RI; bookkeeper for Lakeside Western Lumber Co. in Mount Vernon; payroll clerk for Northern State Hospital; auditor for Port of Skagit County; accountant for Woods Electric Inc. since 1980.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Keith Woods; son Kevin Woods and daughter Charlotte Burns and longtime companion Brian Craig both of Sedro-Woolley; 7 grandchildren: Kendra Woods of Seattle, Jason Burns, Michele Burns, and Jacob Craig of Sedro-Woolley, Ross Woods of Anacortes, Nathan Woods of the US Army and Matthew Woods of Lake Arrowhead, CA.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Keith Edwin at birth and Paul in 1992; father George and mother Mary; and brothers Donald and Kenneth Turner.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at 1:00 pm, Sat., January 19, 2008 at the family home, 22614 Grip Road, Sedro-Woolley.

Memorials may be made in Winnie's name to the Cancer Care Center, Sedro-Woolley.

Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home and Crematory, Mount Vernon.
