Yolanda Denise "Yogi" Lewis

Yolanda Denise Lewis, affectionately known as "Yogi" was born on August 20, 1973 to Edward L. Giles and Dorothy Lewis in Chicago, Illinois. Yolanda attended grammar school in Chicago and High School in both Chicago and New Jersey. She attended Curie High School in Chicago, Illinois. Yolanda went on to attend Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She loved to sing and was in her school choirs and her church choir. Yolanda professed her faith in Christ at a very young age and joined the All Nations United Baptist Church of Christ. She later married and to that union, Destiny Dorothy Marcia Jordan was born. Destiny was the light of her life and the reason she fought so hard to stay in this world. Yolanda won her fight on December 19, 2010 and went to be with the Lord. We love you, but the Lord loved her best. Yolanda was preceded in death by: her Big Mama, Mary Lewis; aunts, Patricia Lewis, Brenda Lewis, Erma Confident; and her sister, Tamarra Giles. Yolanda is survived by: her beautiful daughter ~ Destiny Jordan; her adoring father ~ Edward Giles (Veronica) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; her devoted mother ~ Dorothy Richardson of Chicago, Illinois; her grandparents ~ Leetter Bryant of Chicago, Illinois and Lucinda Giles of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; brothers ~ Marcus Lewis (Kim) of North Carolina and Edward Giles Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; sister ~ Shaunda Lewis of Chicago, Illinois; great-uncle ~ Leroy Allen (Nora) of Chicago, Illinois; uncles ~ David (Gail), Curtis and Joseph (Jackie); aunts ~ Joyce, Floria and Shirley; nephews ~ Malik, Leontaye, William and Dequan; nieces ~ Tondalia and Kamilah; her best and loving friend from College ~ Katine Pease (Reggie) of Atlanta; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. ~ A Note From Mama, We will forever be "DYMS, The 4 Musketeers," (Dorothy, Yolanda, Marcus and Shaunda).
