"Torres, Yolanda Muniz, of Plymouth formerly of Brockton, 16, suddenly on January 27th at Jordan Hospital. Beloved daughter of Mary Ann Tufts and Mauricio Torres of Plymouth, sister of Virginia A. Torres and Micki M. Torres both of Plymouth, her grandparents Catherine E. Tufts and the late Ralph F. Tufts of Pocasset formerly of Brockton and Jose Torres and Eliana Zanartu of Dorchester and Vina del Mar, Chile. She also leaves many aunts and uncles; Ralph and Peggy Tufts of Mashpee, Gayle Tufts and Lutz Gajewski of Germany, Ed and Jane Ouellette of Tiverton, RI; Steve and Joanne Laramy of Plymouth, Pat and Leslie Lally of Plymouth, Bejan and Christine Abaspour of Plymouth, Carolyn Moore of Plymouth, Lynda Thomas-Legay of Plymouth, Lionel Torres of Brighton, U.K, Susan Adams and Mike Pimental of New Syrmna Beach, FL and many friends. Yolanda was a member of the Plymouth school system and in high school transferred to the South East Alternative School in Middleboro. She was a member of the drama club and a former member of the Montessori Youth Orchestra as a singer. She enjoyed scrapbooking, music, dancing, writing poetry and had performed at the Priscilla Beach Theater. Yolanda was an advocate for herself and others and spoke in front of the state legislature on behalf of the Children?s Mental Health Bill. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday February 2nd at St. Peter?s Church in Plymouth at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St (Rt 3), N. Plymouth from 4 to 8 PM. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Franciscan Hospital for Children, Attn: Development Department, 30 Warren St, Boston, MA 02135 or to the Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation, 550 Ridgewood Rd, Maplewood, NJ 07040. "

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Yolanda was a truly creative soul, and a caring young woman. I enjoyed having her in my English class. She was a joy.
