Yvonne Keener, affectionately known by family as "Eddy", was born April 10, 1949 in Washington, DC. In the midst of her transition on January 24, 2022, she was surrounded by her loving family. Yvonne attended DC Public Schools.

Yvonne's life was spent raising and nurturing her children and grandchildren. Her children were well taken care of and needed for nothing. She installed and enforced great values in them. She wanted the best for all her children. Most important, she provided that motherly love – wanted and needed by all. When Yvonne went on dialysis, her children and grandchildren were there to support her with this major life change.

All those who knew her were graced with her great personality, no nonsense straight to the point talk. Yvonne would meet people wherever she went. She was easy to talk to due to her sense of humor. Also, she loved discussing her children, grands and great grands. Her LOVE for all will be truly missed.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Keener; father, Joseph Hurd; son, Terron "Man" Kearney; daughter, Twhanna Fleming and three brothers, Joseph, Bernard and Billy Keener.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories her children, Maria and Renee Kearney, Belinda Keener, Dorethea Fleming (Dave), Leroy (Courtney) and Jason Fleming; brother, Ernest Hurd (Etta); sister, Janie Thompson, 29 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, best friends, Theresa DeLoatch, Delores Watkins and Barbara Kearney; Godchildren, Mary, James and Rose and a host of other family and friends.

Family and friends will unite on Saturday, February 5, 2022 for visitation at 10 am until time of service at 11 am at Brighter Day Ministries, 421 Alabama Avenue, S.E., Washington, D.C. 20020. Interment to follow at Washington National Cemetery, 4101 Suitland Rd, Suitland-Silver Hill, MD 20746.
