RAU, Yvonne M. - Of Flint, age 35, died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 12, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Monday, July 16, 2007 at Peace Lutheran Church, 2051 West Maple Avenue, Flint, Pastor James Wilber officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church. Visitation 1-8PM Saturday and Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Yvonne will be at the church from 10AM Monday until the time of the service. She was born in Flint, Michigan on September 16, 1971, the daughter of Joseph and Connie Rau and was a resident of the Flint area. She attended Carman-Ainsworth High School. She received a scholarship in band to attend ETSU. Yvonne attended East Tennessee State University for 3 years and was currently at Baker College. Yvonne was on the President's List at Baker College for 3 semesters. She was in the Concert Band and Marching Band, playing the flute. Yvonne passed the love of the flute to her niece, Sommer. She was a member of the Quota International of Flint. Yvonne was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was the former director of Education, VBS director, a choir member and auctioneer. Yvonne was a member of the Arrowhead Vets Club. Yvonne worked in the home health care industry for the last 15 years and was also a country line dance instructor around the Flint area. Surviving are parents, Joe and Connie Rau; 3 brothers, Bill (Jody) Whitehead and Randy (Nicole) Rau and Jerry Williams; 2 sisters, Joleen Williams and Samantha Williams; fiance' Ron Rapcka; 5 nieces; 5 nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved dog, Cha Cha. I am so very sorry to hear of Yvonne's passing. She will be greatly missed. She was always smiling & upbeat. God has a wonderful new Angel!!!!
