Baker Funeral Home - Queensbury Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- Zachary Ignazio, 31, passed away unexpectedly at Glens Falls Hospital on Sunday, May 11, 2025, with loved ones by his side.

Born October 13, 1993, at 7:39 p.m. in Glens Falls, he was the son of Nicholas Ignazio and Kathleen Boyle.

Zack graduated from Queensbury High School in 2011 and attended SUNY Adirondack. He started his working career as a snowboard/ski instructor at West Mountain; and worked for Ben & Jerry’s, Sammy D’s Café, Massie’s, Davidson Brothers, Downtown City Tavern, and Olive Garden over the years. Zack was mostly a self-employed tye dye artist at Fixation Fabric Arts at 4D Gallery. Most recently, he was starting his new business, Happy Dad’s Landscaping. He was a member of NORML and USASA, in his younger years.

Zack loved life. He loved mornings and sunrise hikes in the Adirondacks and the Lake George region. He was an artist, lover of everything 420, foodie, music lover of all genres, but mostly Goose, PHISH, Grateful Dead, Mac Miller, and Kendrick Lamar. He loved his Family and Fam, and was so looking forward to his baby Hazel’s arrival with his Babe by his side. Music festivals were his passion, and where he met most of his huge extended family we affectionately call “Fam.”

He began snowboarding not long after he learned to walk. He was also an avid skier, with the Glades being his favorite spot, where he met his best friend in the world, Brian McDowell.

Zack loved to travel. In 2011, he traveled for a month to Spain and France with his mom after graduation. In 2012, he hitchhiked southbound along the east coast with his friend, Ryan Sullivan. He also traveled to Canada, Slovakia, Puerto Rico, and in 2019 began an epic journey around the U.S. in Our Tales Wagon with his beloved dog, Cleo. He then settled down in Denver, Colorado for a few years, before moving back home to Queensbury, where he ultimately met the love of his life, Jennifer - sister to one of his many best friends, Julia Powers.

Zack was predeceased by his grandparents, Albert Ignazio, Margaret Cogovan, and Ron Boyle; aunt, Michelle Boyle; and cousin, Jeffrey Hluchnik.

Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, Jennifer Powers of Queensbury; daughter, Hazel Ignazio, to be born any day in great anticipation by all; parents, Nick Ignazio (Sarah McLenithan) of Glens Falls and Kate Boyle (Craig Murphy) of Queensbury; grandparents, Cheryl Ignazio, Karen Donlon, and Charles Bleibtrey; Baby Hazel’s grandparents, John and Marianne Powers; step-brother, Jeremiah Fenton (Autumn) of Glens Falls; aunts and uncles, Rob Ignazio (Laurie) of Glenville, Dana Ignazio of Glens Falls, Larry Ignazio (Michelle) of Florida, Sarah Collins (James) of Fort Edward, Mark Boyle, Jim Cogovan, Colleen Cogovan, and Rene Cogovan; cousins - who are all like brothers and sisters to Zack - Anthony Hewitt, Tyler Ignazio, Joe Ignazio, Johnny Ignazio, Mariah Ramundo, Rob Ingleston, Michael Cogovan, Stephen Hluchnik, Serena Hluchnik, Pam Horton and Erik Horton; Tom and Nancy Hewitt, who were like parents to Zack; pets, Rick, Riley, Ruby, Sophie, Lucky and Cleo; and many others.

Visitation will take place Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday, May 16, 2025, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A brief funeral service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.

A graveside ceremony will follow at Pine View Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life immediately following at Elks Lodge No. 81, 32 Cronin Rd., Queensbury.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Glens Falls EMS, Hospital ER and ICU staff.

In loving memory of Zack, contributions may be made to a local drug and alcohol recovery organization of your choice.

Condolences and floral arrangements may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.

If Zack had your back, you knew it and he meant it. Zack’s favorite saying to Jen was “be on my side, I’ll be on your side.” Other favorites, “hanging out, having fun,” “love you, mean it!” will never die. Fly high our son, lover, father, brother, friend and confidant. So many mentioned here, but he loved you all!!!
