Zadel Skolovsky

I studied under Prof. Skolovsky at IU in Bloomington in 1983-1985. It was a pleasure being his student. So bright and kind. It was a wonderful experience which I will never forget. RIP

Well, I'm 12 years late finding this, but before I lost contact with Zadel sometime after 1992, he was quite sharp, asking me within seconds (after not having contact for years), "So where are you conducting now?" He was my piano teacher at IU Bloomington from 1986-87. He could be a tough guy, but fortunately he liked me! Mr. Skolovsky created a very good atmosphere both in private lessons and especially in group masterclasses, encouraging all the students, and welcoming positive feedback...

I was fortunate enough to study piano with Zadel Skolovsky for one summer at Indiana University. Honestly, some of the moments from that summer of 1978 have stayed with me vividly. Although I was studying music education and was not a performance major, a slot had opened up in his prestigious studio for the summer and I was so blessed to have that opportunity.
