Baca's Funeral Chapels - Las Cruces Obituary

On October 6, 2024, Zeke Braylon Cano, 19, passed peacefully and suddenly in his hometown of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

He was born in Roswell, New Mexico on January 21, 2005.  He loved being creative, watching YouTube videos, building Legos, and watching a good comedy show.  He kept his family and friends entertained by telling jokes, learning new card tricks, and playing the guitar.  He was the champion of Monopoly even when everyone joined together to bankrupt him. He also enjoyed being in school plays.  He was an adventurer, very curious, and inquisitive. He was a thinker and loved a good debate. He was protective of his family and spent quality time with his Grandma Teri and his Papa.  He also loved watching the Dallas Cowboys while drinking his Mexican cokes.  Zeke graduated from the New Mexico National Guard Youth Challenge in 2022.  He was still trying to figure out his next step in life at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his mother, Isabel Beverly Cano; his sisters, Daijah and Merliah; his brother, Elijah, all of Las Cruces and his paternal grandparents, Hector M. Cano Sr. and Guadalupe Q. Cano of Mesilla Park.  He is also survived by a lot of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marco Antonio Cano; his maternal grandparents, James L. and Teresa F. Barela; and his great grandparents.

Zeke was so loved, and he will be greatly missed.

Services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 2:00 P.M., at Baca’s Funeral Chapels, 300 East Boutz Road, Las Cruces, NM.

The family would like to thank everyone who showed Zeke love and compassion.
