Zelda M. Porte PhD, of Washington, DC and Jerusalem, Israel, passed away at age 78. Born and raised in Vancouver, Dr. Porte completed her undergraduate degree at Stanford University, served in the Peace Corps, earned a PhD in psychology at the University of Maryland and built a practice as a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist in Washington, DC. Dr. Porte was an ardent supporter of many Jewish organizations and institutions in Canada, the United States and Israel, and achieved a personal dream of having a home in Jerusalem, where she spent the recent Jewish High Holidays celebrating the New Year 5779 among family and friends. Dr. Porte, who was preceded in death by both her parents, Leo and Matilda Porte, and her only sibling Herschel (Hershey) Porte. Dr. Porte is lovingly remembered by her extended family and the life-long friendships that she so dearly cherished. According to her wishes, Dr. Porte was laid to rest near her home in Jerusalem.
