McNerney's Mortuary - San Pedro Obituary

On June 19, 2012, Zee Luera, at her home with her loving husband of 61 years, Alfred and family at her side, took her last breath on earth and her first breath in heaven to be at home with our Lord. She was born in Kansas and lived in San Pedro all of her life. She was a wonderful mother to her devoted daughter, Toni Luera Martinez, son, Freddie and daughter-in-law, Madelyn and son, Christopher, who she shares her birthday into heaven with, and his girlfriend, Natasha Brame. She was an amazing grandmother to Fred Andrew (Ann Marie), Michael (Tanisha) and Daniel Luera and David and Andrew Martinez. She cherished her great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Nicole, Michael, Collin and twins, Ella Rose and Freddie Antonio with all of her heart. She will be greatly missed by sisters, Johnnie Kay (Al) Scroggins, Pat Arnold and brother-in-law, Jay Luera (Carol)and Lew Morales; and many nieces, nephews and friends, whom she loved dearly. Zee's faith had been the most important comfort to her and her family. Her nurturing, kind and generous nature was evident to those around her in everything she did. She made an impact on the lives of those she knew on earth and will continue to do so as an angel watching over us in heaven. Her family appreciates all of the overwhelming love and support for our mother. She was blessed with 79 years and her family is grateful to all of those who prayed and cared for her during her illness, especially Deacon Dennis Carlson and John Tousseau. A vigil service will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Pedro. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Crestwood Street School or the POLA High School "Zee Luera" Scholarship Fund.
