I met Zissis my best friend at NYU in the SCE Gallatin cross over study program. Both 1st gens. We had allot in common. Beach, Greek, Art, and Culture. A Vetruvian Man. A Scientist. He and I shared a special moment seeing a John Tutorro movie at the Angelika titled Mac. I was aiming to be a filmmaker. He a doctor. The movie between Eli Roth our dorm RA and Z's specific taste shaped me as an artist. New York's Hell's Kitchen, Alphabet City, the indie culture of Basquiat and Warhol. Museum...

I am one of his psychology students at rutgers university. I just today heard the news about his passing. I would've come and paid my respects if i would've known. We are stunned and deeply saddened by the news of Zissis' passing, and we offer our condolences to his family, especially his parents and his daughter, and his friends. Zissis was part of our department as an instructor and as a coadjutant instructor for many years, and we felt fortunate to have him as part of our teaching staff. I served on Zissis's dissertation committee as he completed his Ph.D. at the New School for Social Research. It was a pleasure to work with Zissis. He was everything one could want from a budding scholar: disciplined, smart, organized, devoted. He cared deeply about the way the mind was able to perceive the world with acuity and sensitivity. He wanted to understand it as best he could. Even after graduating he continued to both teach students about the field of Perception, but also...

I was devastated to learn of Zissis's death. I had been out of touch with him these last few months but had kept in touch with him fairly regularly until then and saw him at least once or twice a semester since he got his Ph.D. under my supervision at The New School.
