Zola Louise Mayfield Murphy

All these years later, I still think of Zola Murphy as my favorite teacher. I was new to Stillwater in 1965 and was nervous about going to a new school. She made sure she got to know us and that amazed me. Mrs. Murphy was a treasure. What a wonderful teacher, a wonderful person.

Mrs. Murphy was my high school English teacher in 1964, and made a huge impact on me.
She encouraged and influenced me in so many ways. I am now a teacher, and think of her everytime I throw my head back and laugh heartily, or show maniacal excitement over a piece of literature...she was known for doing both quite well.
She gave me good advice about writing, authors, poetry, and boyfriends (which I didn't listen to, unfortunately).
I will always remember her zeal and unique...
