Zoran Hodjera Obituary


Dr. ZORAN S. HODJERA  
Dr. Zoran Hodjera, resident of Bethesda, MD since 1965, died on February 14, 2012. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sigi Beck Hodjera and his dear stepson, Peter Beck and nine much-loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Zora and Mira, and by his first wife, Ines. Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia (Serbia), in 1923, he fought both occupying German forces and the Communists. He left his beloved country and graduated from the University of Geneva and the Institute of International Studies, Geneva, Switzerland; earned a Ph.D. in economics at Columbia University; lectured at City University, New York; reader in Keynesian Economics at Oxford University; was assistant professor of economics at Yale University and Associate professor at University of Virginia. Dr. Hodjera was Principal Economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington for over 20 years. He was active in the Serbian Orthodox Church in the United States, and for many years was president of the Executive Board of St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church. Viewing and Pomen will be on Sunday, February 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. and funeral on Monday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Antiochian Church, 10620 River Road, Potomac, MD. Interment immediately following at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church (in Dr. Hodjera's name) Building Fund, 10660 River Road, Potomac, MD 20854. Please view and sign the family guestbook at:www.hinesrinaldifuneralhome.com
