Not sure what to say?

I stumbled upon Zygmund Jankowski's obituary this evening and it was a stab to the heart. Back in the early 70s Ziggy was the artist who set the standard of excellence for up and coming artists in North Central Indiana. I was a young would-be photographer back then and I remember hoping I'd one day capture on photo-paper what Mr. Jankowski managed to capture through his talent. His paintings told stories and evoked emotion. An amazing man whose legacy will stand the test of time has...

To Zyg's family and friends, I offer my deepest sympathy. For over 30 yrs. Zygmund was my mentor and my trusted friend. He taught me to paint, and I am forever grateful to him. What an incredible gift Zygmund had as a powerful painter and teacher. I am thankful for the time he had to share his gifts with all of us– to be an exemplary artist, an art mentor and father figure to so many; to have touched so many lives along his journey. Thanks Zyg for leaving a legacy in your beautiful works of...

Zyg's spirit lives in all those he brought light to. He certainly did this for me as a great uncle, fellow artist and teacher. My next painting is in honer of your bright light.

thank you all. he was my brother and agreat human being, beside a great artist.I miss him very much. Peace.

Fond memories of my Uncle Zyg,...as a child he called me 'Pula',& he taught me how to enjoy my scrambled eggs with ketchup when I was a fussy eater. Although I'm not an artist myself, he taught me to believe in myself when I cried because I didn't think I could draw. Now I just try to comfort my mother who was his 'wombmate' as he would refer to her in letters or geeting cards. He is dearly missed, and rightfully so. A very unselfish man, with an eye for beauty.

Thankyou Zyg for being an honest artist who contributed a wealth of knowledge to the many other artists and non artist's whom you have given much wisdom to.

ZYG. was a friend, mentor, father, teacher and responsable for my growth as and artist in arainbow of productive pursuits. He was a giver and I'm so glad that I had so many opportunities to express my appreciation and embarrase him with the words'I love you". I will alway see you living.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Zyg Jankowski. He was a wonderful inspiration and a fine artist. His memory will live on in all of his fabulous paintings and art work. We have several of his paintings and one was a gift from Zyg himself, I will always treasure it! May his memory be a blessing.
