Carlynn Crews Obituary

Carlynn P. "Polly" Crews

Naples, FL

Our beloved Mom, born April 16, 1925, joyously joined her husband and son in heaven on November 21, 2018. "Miss Polly" as she was affectionately known, was proud to be the oldest living Gold Star Mom in the state of Florida prior to her death at 93 years of age. Miss Polly was tireless in her quest to start a local Gold Star Mothers chapter for moms who have lost a child in service of the US armed forces. She worked off and on for many years on the project which was successfully chartered 6/24/2017 when she was 92 years old. She did this to honor the memory of her only son, SGT Robert L. (Bobby) Crews, who was killed in Vietnam 5/22/1968. She was extremely patriotic and proud to speak on any occasion she could to further the cause of the Gold Star Mother's organization or her respect of the military. She was a former president and long time member of Questers and a member of the Naples Church of Christ since 1958, the year she and her family moved to Naples.

She is survived by her daughters Linda (Mike) Thompson and Marilyn (Lamar) Evers, grandchildren Dean Thompson, Melanie (Evan) Butler and Justin (Rebecca) Evers and great grandchildren Erin and Ryan Butler and Kate and Mason Evers. She was predeceased by her loving husband P.B. Crews 6/02/07 and her beloved son Bobby 5/22/1968.

Her funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 26 at the Naples Church of Christ, 12760 Livingston Rd at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at noon. Graveside service will follow at Naples Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of one's choice.

November 25, 2018

May the God of all comfort give you and your family strength during this time of loss. As you remember your loved one, may our Father give you peace in every way. Please accept my sincere condolences. Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace constantly in every way. May the Lord be with all of you. 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Sweet "Miss Polly" could just as fittingly, been called "Lady Polly". Polly definitely was a lady and her energy was to be envied.
Her husband P.B. Crews was a sportsman that spent numerous years as guest, along with my late husband, Bob, at the same camp. Polly and P.B. shared love, (certainly 'evenly yoked') faith, and parenting. Polly so dearly loved her family.
It was always a pleasure to see and spend time with her. Her demeanor, manners, and elegance always made me smile each time I saw her. My friend's Southern charm warmed my heart.
My prayers are with Marilyn, Linda, and all those who loved Polly. None of us are ever truly ready for Mom to leave.....even when we believe we are prepared.
My friend Polly loved life, set an example for others to emulate. Yet....she had no fear of dying because she lived as a woman of faith!
