Janice Benscoter Obituary

Janice "The Bingo Queen" Marie Benscoter, age 73, of 309 Benscoter Rd., Laceyville, (Edinger Hill) passed away on Tuesday morning, Oct. 30, 2012, at her home in Tuscorora Township, Bradford County.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1939, in Spring Hill, the daughter of the late Alice Lyke Fiske. She was a graduate from Wyalusing Valley High School class of 1957.
Janice worked at Mindy Sue Dress Factory on Main Street in Laceyville for many years. Janice and her husband, Neil, owned a family farm, Benscoter Farms, on Edinger Hill for 45 years which is now operated by her sons and grandsons.
Janice was a member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. In addition she was a member of the Laceyville Ambulance as a driver for 25 years. She also enjoyed playing Bingo traveling all over Northeast Pennsylvania and New York state to play, bowling at Mountainside Lanes for 25 years as a member of the Benscoter Farms team, knitting, crafts, and trips to the casinos.
Janice is survived by her children, Sally Benscoter of Laceyville, Emery "Mick" Benscoter and his wife Julie of Springville, Cathy Benscoter of Laceyville, Jerry Benscoter and his wife Jackie of Laceyville, and Carl Benscoter and his wife Terry of Laceyville; grandchildren, Eric Benscoter, Kaleb Spencer, Buck Benscoter, Bryan Benscoter (Heidi Hunter), Brenden Benscoter, Nikki Benscoter (Steve O'Connor), Sammy (Duane) Carpenter, Sara Benscoter, Chelsea Benscoter, Bobby Benscoter, and Elizabeth Benscoter; and great grandchildren, Kayden Carpenter, Kyla Carpenter, Blake Manning, and Jaylynn Jennings. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Aileen Learn of Spring Hill, Marilynn (Frank) Carr, Sr. of Wilmot, Louie (Jeannie) Fiske of Spring Hill, and Pat (Wayne) Parsons of Dushore; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her mother she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Neil R. Benscoter, who passed away May 22, 1993.
Funeral Services were held on Nov. 2, at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, with Rev. Dale Russell of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be at the Benscoter Family Cemetery in West Auburn.
In lieu of flowers those wishing can make memorial donations to the Laceyville Ambulance Association, PO Box 274, Laceyville, PA 18623.
The Benscoter Family would like to thank the Memorial Hospice for their love and care of Janice.
