FLORIDA — Julia Y. Culbertson, 95, passed away on June 18, 2017 in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Julia, also known as "Maw Maw," was born in Chester, S.C., on March 9, 1922 and settled in Fort Pierce in 1961.
Julia was a nurse at Fort Pierce Memorial Hospital in Obstetrics. She was a past President of the Village of St Lucie Holiday Association, an interviewer at the Mustard Seed Ministry in Fort Pierce, a 10-year member of Red Cross and also served on the Red Cross National Disaster Team.
Julia was a longtime member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, a member of the St Lucie County Fair Association and a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #7 in Fort Pierce, Fla., serving as a Past Matron.
Survivors include her son, Victor W. Culbertson; grandsons, Brad and Scott Culbertson; great-granddaughter, Kendall Culbertson; great-grandsons, Gabriel and Ronnie Culbertson and daughter-in-law, Cheryl A. Boltz all of Fort Pierce, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Culbertson, daughter, Kay E. Culbertson, parents, Richard E. and Julia G. Yarbrough and brothers Richard T. and Jesse M. Yarbrough.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 3601 Kirby Loop Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 24, 2017 from 5 -6 p.m. at Haisley Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Pierce, with the service beginning at 6 p.m. Reception will follow immediately at Haisley Reception Center.
