Eric asked me if there was a Garage scene in Dallas, I said , no , it's just a lot of REM wannabees. He said , don't those kids know that stuff is dead ?

I only got to hang out with Eric that one time , but he proved to be a very cool person. Plan 9 was no cookie cutter Garage band , Eric stood out from the crowd.

I met Eric and Deb at the Electric Banana in Pittsburgh PA many moons ago. I had purchased some great 60's 45's from them earlier and now had a chance to see their band, Plan 9. Great people, very friendly. Did not learn
of his passing until I saw his name in the latest issue of "Ugly Things". Take care Deb Robin

I met Eric Stumpo , and the rest of Plan 9 , in Dallas in 1986. The band was playing at Club Dada. It was a sparse turnout as The Red Hot Chili Peppers were playing the same night , to which I said , "SO ?!". Eric asked me if there was a place nearby where the band could get pizza. They were not going to play until they had pizza . You could not even get a hot dog in the Deep Ellum club district in '86 , prior to the proliferation of fancy eateries....

I advised them that there was probably a pizza place on Lower Greenville Ave. , about a 10 minute drive. He asked if I'd come along and show them how to get there. HANG OUT WITH PLAN 9 AND RIDE IN THEIR SCHOOL BUS ? DID YOU SAY "DEAL"? We had a good time , but , the only pizza place we could find was a real high tone Italian restaurant. We got some funny stares from the git - go. One woman asked Eric , "Where did you get your shoes? I like them !". "Thanks." , he replied . "They're called sneakers.".

The show itself was fantastic. THE BAND , 7 OR 8 STRONG AT THE TIME, WERE ALL CONNECTED BY ONE PULSEBEAT , WITH Eric's Guitar and vocals searing and soaring in a way that would have made Roky Erickson proud. But , I'm sure Roky's already told him that.

To Eric's family and friends , please accept my condolences.

John Battles , Chicago.

I just did a Google Search because I had a Plan 9 song stuck in my head and I wanted to send a note to Eric and Deb to tell them both how much the band means to me and how after 35 years or so have passed that they still are a part of my musical life. I listen to their work and enjoy it often. So very sad to find this news when I did my Google search. Deb, I hope this message reaches you with my thoughts of sorrow for your loss and of remembrance of the great happiness that Eric brought to the lives of those around him. I always enjoyed our conversations at the shows in Boston. And I still have very fond memories of the 1985 party in Shannock that you hosted. We bow - we most certainly bow - in remembrance of Eric's kindness and musical talents.

Deb, I'm so sorry to hear of Eric's passing. Thinking of you. I'm so glad I was able to be there for the Hall of Fame induction gig - it was amazing! He is an unforgettable guy and I was glad to know him.
