Willis Ruff Obituary

Willis Nolan “Bill” Ruff died peacefully in Deltona, FL on March 22, 2021 at the age of 85.Willis is survived by his wife, Marlene (Lockwood) Ruff; Children Linda (Terry) Dauterman, Joyce (Rick) Fletcher, Beth (James) Abbott, and James (Ellen) Ruff; Grand-Children Kelli (Jeff) Ridgway, Ryan (Katie) Fletcher, Grace (BJ Goodreau) Abbott, Kevin Dauterman, Sara (Jason) Scott, Jeffrey (Allison) Dauterman, Kyle (Chelsey) Ruff, Cameron (Brenna) Ruff, Bethany (Harrison) McCall, Tyler Fletcher, Sophie (Patrick Schlund) Ruff, and 18 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Dorothy (Leveck), and brothers Jack and Dane.Willis Ruff was born on December 18, 1935 in Cleveland, OH to Willis and Dorothy (Leveck). He attended Cleveland Bible College (Malone University) and Fenn College in 1953 in accounting. He married Marlene, his high school sweetheart, in August of 1954 and their love remained strong for 66 years. He served in the Marine Reserves from 1956-61 as an E-4 and was proud to serve his country. Willis began working for Hough Bakery as a worker in the equipment room in 1952, bookkeeper, office manager, Vice President and then became President of Hough Catering. He was an active and dedicated member, elder, and administrator of Willoughby Hills Friends Church until their move to Florida where they became active volunteers at Deltona Alliance Church.Willis was an individual who loved history and who was passionate about civil war history. He loved reading, traveling, and especially spending time with his family. The incredible amount of love he gave others is only surpassed by the unmeasurable love given to him by his family and friends. He created a legacy that will live on for generations. A service will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Willoughby Hills Friends Church 2846 SOM Center Rd, Willoughby Hills, OH 44094.

Bill always told great stories! My greatest memories were working with him at the main office and doing side catering jobs when they needed extra help. After the plant closed , a bunch of us would get together for dinner once and awhile and rehash old stories and would laugh ourselves sick! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
