Mary L. Moeller

1937 - 2018

Mary L. Moeller (nee Helwig), of Willoughby Hills, passed away September 27, 2018, at the age of 80.
Mary was a longtime resident of Euclid, where she was actively involved as a member of Euclid Lutheran Church and a Girl Scout leader. She was a life-long Girl Scout and was chosen to attend a national encampment in Cody, Wyoming when she was a teenager. She and her late husband, Kenneth J. Moeller moved to Willoughby Hills in 1995. Mary loved the out-of-doors and had an extensive knowledge and love for birds and wildflowers. She was a volunteer nature guide at the Holden Arboretum for 22 years. She and her family created many memories camping and canoeing throughout Ohio and the U.S. Mary combined her love of music, storytelling, and her knowledge of Appalachian folk culture as an Artist in Education. She presented at several schools, churches, and festivals throughout Northeast Ohio.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Susan Schneider (Kevin) and Barbara Ciofani (Daniel); grandchildren: Paul Schneider (Becky), Kate Anzenberger (Robert), James Ciofani; and great grandson, Nolan Schneider.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Moeller; her parents, John and Linda Helwig; and her siblings: Florence Hennings, Ruth Morrison, Jean Moeller, and Jack Helwig.
Friends and family may attend calling hours on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 37728 Euclid Ave. Willoughby. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted.
