Lisa Reece Obituary

Lisa L. (Nicholson) Reece

59, of Ash Grove, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

Lisa was born on May 4, 1958 to Larry and Betty (Keith) Nicholson in Springfield, MO. On July 7, 1984, Lisa and Mike Reece were united in marriage; together they shared 33 wonderful years.

Lisa was a life-long area resident of Ash Grove. Lisa loved being with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a life-long active member of Johns Chapel Methodist Church and her faith was very important to her. Lisa was an Ash Grove High School graduate of 1976. She then went on to Southwest Missouri State where she was multi-sport athlete and was later inducted into The Missouri State Sports Hall of Fame. She completed her master's degree from Pittsburg State University. Lisa enjoyed teaching and wanted to make a positive impact on her students' lives. She began her teaching career in Hume, MO where she met the love of her life, Mike. She then taught for several years for the Springfield School District. Lisa retired from OTC after being there for many years, but her love for teaching brought her out of retirement and most recently, she was teaching at MSU. During Lisa's down time, she enjoyed going to garage sales, traveling, going to the lake and trout fishing. She made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Lisa will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Mike Reece, of the home; parents, Larry and Betty Nicholson; sons, Josh Reece and wife Amanda of Ash Grove, Zach Reece and fiancé Jamie of CO, Drew Reece of the home; three grandchildren, Kyler, Blake and Harper Reece of Ash Grove; mother-in-law, Velma Reece; brother, Brian Nicholson and wife Debbie of Ash Grove; sister, Denise Ogle and husband David of Ash Grove; brother-in-law, Gary Reece; dearest friend, Angie McChesney; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.

Lisa was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Reece.

Visitation will begin at 5:00PM, Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, MO. Funeral services will be Friday, October 13, 2017 at 2:00PM at North Point Church, Springfield, MO. Private family burial will be held at a later date, in Johns Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Lisa Nicholson Reece Scholarship Fund and will be given to an Ash Grove student going into the science field. Donations may be left at the funeral home.

Lisa has left a void that no one person can fill. I'm sure she has joined Heaven's choir and is singing and shouting for joy. Mike and family--our love and sympathy are extended to you all. Our prayer is that God brings you peace and comfort.
