Ernest Franklin "Nick" Rymer

Ernest Franklin "Nick" Rymer, 72, a lifetime resident of Springfield, passed away March 22, 2011, after a brief battle with cancer. A private graveside memorial service was held in Springfield National Cemetery under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North.

Nick was born in Springfield on July 21, 1939. He attended Central High School and from 1960 to 1964, served in the United States Navy aboard the Oklahoma City. He then returned to Springfield, where he lived his entire life.

Nick is survived by his oldest brother, Jim (Velta) Rymer of Julian, California; his only sister, Linda (Cecil) Bartlett of Tucson, Ariz.; five nieces; two nephews; and his beloved dog, Miss Magoo.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Genevieve Rymer; and brothers, Ed, John and Bill Rymer.

Nick's family wishes to thank Hospice Compassus of Springfield for their kindness and the excellent care he received during the time preceding his passing.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Nick's name to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Compassus, 1465 E. Primrose, Springfield, MO 65804.

Sorry to hear of Nicks passing, I have great memories of Nick, Ed, and John from my old Stock Car days in the 60s. At that time my daughter was only 5 or 6, and Nick and John really enjoyed teasing and making her laugh, it's something she still remembers. Clyde Stant
