What an honor to have known and worked with such a brave and courageous man. His actions and dedication to our country are among the reasons we remain free today. I worked with Mr. Dean during his years as a correctional officer and counselor at the U.S. Medical Center For Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri and I can't think of anyone who commanded more respect than Mr. Dean. His passing is a great loss to humanity! A belated thank you, Ed, for your many contributions in the preservation of our country. May God be with your family. It is my priviledge to have known you.

I met Edwin in 1981 when his uncle, my dad, James T. Dean, was hospitalized in the V.A. Medical Center, in Lexington, KY. I was struck by three thoughts--Edwin looked just like Daddy, he was very loving to Daddy who was impaired by a stroke, and he had travelled so far to see Daddy.
I was so impressed by Edwin's military accomplishments. What an honor to have met him and to know how honorably he had served his country.
My condolences to each of you, my "long lost cousins".
