Bonnie Briley Obituary

Bonnie B. Briley III

Bonnie B. Briley III, age 63, of Springfield, passed away November 25, 2012.

He was born in Alliance, Nebraska and graduated from Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri. He retired from the Department of Health and Senior Services after 30 years.

Bonnie is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and his parents, Bonnie and Betty.

He is survived by his loving family: daughters, Tana Bradshaw and Sara Marshall; and his son, Ben Briley; sons-in-law, Chris Bradshaw and Lloyd Marshall; grandchildren: Luke, Jack, Sam, Mary, Augustus, and Juliet; his brother, Joe Briley; and nephew, Sean Briley.

Bonnie grew up hunting and fishing, and his most cherished times were spent sharing these activities with his family. Music was another one of his passions. He was a talented drummer and over the years played in several bands. He loved to entertain his family and friends, whether it was playing albums from his large record collection, throwing parties, or having cookouts. He had a great sense of humor, was a great storyteller and had an endless wealth of knowledge. If you needed an answer, you asked Dad. He also enjoyed collecting and repairing guns. Bonnie will be greatly missed by his family and they find comfort knowing he is reunited with many of his loved ones.

A memorial service and celebration of Bonnie's life will be held in the spring.

Bonnie was at the District Office the entire time I worked there. During at least two or three years we worked very close together with the LHDs with the MCH contract. He was a tremendous help and support on a very innovative contract. Great picture of Bonnie. My deepest sympathy to the entire family and especially to you Tanna.

I will be forever grateful for Bonnie. He helped me so much when I felt absolutely overwhelmed with a contract at the Health Department. He was a very patient teacher and could simplify the confusion. My thoughts are with Tana and the rest of his family.

Bonnie always had time to share a story, or answer a question. He was a colleague and friend and will be missed.

I always look back fondly to the time Bonnie and I shared a cube and worked together at the state. He was always ready for a joke and always had a smile.
