Edith Hedgpeth

Edith Marie Hedgpeth, age 99, of Nixa, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 in Mercy Villa, Springfield. She was born January 17, 1915 in Nixa, the daughter of William and Nora (Aven) McCafferty. On November 29, 1933 she and Howard D. Hedgpeth were united in marriage.

Edith was saved and became a member of First Baptist Church in Nixa in 1933. She had been a member of Calvary Bible Church since 1969. Edith was a homemaker and friend to many. She enjoyed bowling with friends.

Her husband, Howard, preceded her in death as well as a son, Larry Hedgpeth, sisters Nina Smith and Polly Barnhart, brothers Clell "Benny" McCafferty and Aven Lee McCafferty, and her parents.

Survivors include: Two granddaughters, Rendy St. Amand of Lacey, Washington, and Robin Hedgpeth of Copper Center, Alaska; two grandsons; one great-grandson; a brother-in-law, Bob Smith; a sister-in-law, Lilian McCafferty; nieces and nephews including a special niece and caregiver, Nancy Jo Ann Hedgpeth of Nixa; great-nieces and great-nephews including Kelly Phillips and husband Mark; and many cousins including Joe Paul and Ella Jane Sanders who visited often with Edith.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 7, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Rev. Joseph Fahl officiating. Burial will follow in Payne Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Friday. Memorials may be made to Calvary Bible Church or Payne Cemetery.

Sorry for your loss.....Edith was such a SPECIAL lady! My mother lived down the hall from Her at Mercy Villa, every evening leaving there I stopped to visit with Edith & Liz. Your family was truly Blessed with a SWEET lady with a BIG HEART!! Loved Her!!
