Sherrill Lloyd Obituary

Sherrill Dean Lloyd

Sherrill Dean Lloyd, age 75, departed this life on the 13th of October, 2014, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born the 28th of March, 1939 in Springfield, Missouri, the fourth and youngest child of Arch John Menzies and Blanche Iberia (Mincks) Menzies.

Sherrill was united in marriage to William Lee ("Bill") Lloyd in Springfield on the 5th of April, 1957, and to them were born four children: Julia, Jennifer, Janet and John. Sherrill and Bill were married for 44 years until his death in 2001. Sherrill became a Christian at an early age, and was a member of National Heights Baptist Church at the time of her death. Sherrill was a strong and confident woman, and she taught her daughters to be likewise. Although she did not have the resources early in life to pursue an education, in mid-life Sherrill returned to school and became a licensed practical nurse. Her example was profoundly important to her daughters, each of whom are now successful, professional women, with families of their own. Sherrill took great pride in each of them, and delighted in her six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Sherrill was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a sister; her husband, Bill; and by her beloved son, John.

Sherrill is survived by her three daughters, Julia Edwards and special friend, Clay Holmes, Jennifer and husband Gary Bishop, Janet and husband Brad Weber; and by her grandchildren: Christopher Edwards (wife Lauren), Lauren Luebbering (husband Kevin), Andrew Edwards, Kyle Bishop, Elisabeth Palmer (husband Corey) and Emma Weber; and by great-grandson, Avery Palmer. Sherrill is also is survived by sisters-in-law: Martha Menzies and Dora Menzies; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and by special friends: Max Bacon, Jenine Bacon, Mary Dickinson; and by her beloved Boston terrier, Chuck. Sherrill will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

The family plans a visitation in Greenlawn North Funeral Home on Thursday, the 16th of October from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Friday, the 17th of October at 10:00 a.m. in National Heights Baptist Church, with a grave side service following at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family is grateful to Integrity Hospice for their loving care of Sherrill in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association in memory of both Sherrill and her son John.

Julie, Jen, Jan, And Lloyd Family,

I was saddened to hear your mother had passed away.
Holding you all in our hearts, thoughts and our prayers.

My fondest memories of your mom go back many years ago, When we all would get together at Mildred's backyard for our big family get together picnics ! I remember watching your Mom & Dad walk down with all you kids and all of us having the best of time playing till after dark. It was, and will always be my most favorite memories when all of us cousins got together, and had the most wonderful times there.

It has been a couple years since I last talked to your mom. She would email me from time to time...She always loved talking about her grandkids and how very proud she was of all of you.

May your memories carry you through this sorrowful time.
God Bless,
Your Cousin, Teri
