Jeffrey Gorham Obituary


Obituary

Jeffrey Gorham died April 16, 2005 in Ft. Myers, Florida after a long struggle with lung and bone cancer. He was born in Winnetka, Illinois on May 22, 1940 and went to the Winnetka Public Schools, Williston Academy and Dickinson College (BA 1963). He graduated from US Navy Officer Candidate School in 1964, completing service in 1967 as a Lt., USNR and a Vietnam veteran.

He held various sales jobs in the Chicago financial district before joining Consumers Power Company in 1974 in corporate finance where he worked for nearly 22 years. Mr. Gorham and his wife of 29 years, Marcia J. (Jacobs) Gorham retired in 1996 to the The Vines Golf and Country Club.

In Jackson, Michigan he was a member of the Jackson Country Club and participated in various fund raising activities for Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellas Sharp Museum, United Way and Spring Arbor College.

In Ft. Myers, he served on the Board of Governors at Estero Country Club at The Vines. Mr. Gorham was a member of Lamb of God Church.

Mr. Gorham is survived by his wife, Marcia, two step-daughters and their children (his grandsons); Shelly Brown and her son William Patrick Brown and Cydney K. Gorham and her son Andrew Clayton Gray. He also leaves brothers Sidney S. (Jean) Gorham and E. Timothy (Barbara) Gorham and his brothers and sisters-in-law Marilyn (Jim) Roggow, Larry (Shirley) Jacobs, Bonnie Phelps, Robert (Janice) Jacobs and his godson, Bobby Jacobs. Several other nieces, nephews and their children also survive him.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 20th, at 3:00 PM at Lamb of God Church, 19691 Cypress View Drive, Ft. Myers. There will be a visitation prior to the service at the church from 1:30 to 3:00 PM.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Lamb of God Building Fund, Hope Hospice of Ft. Myers or the donor's charity of choice.
