GREENSBORO — Beatrice Joyce Geniac died Sunday, October, 29, 2012 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Bea was born on October 2, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, the eldest of four children born to James Robert and Marion Marie Maines Green. She was a devoted, lifelong member of Rockwood First Congregational Church in Rockwood, Michigan.
After graduation in 1952 from Slocum-Truax High School in Trenton, Michigan, Bea worked in the offices of the Chrysler Corporation, before marrying Robert Theodore Geniac in 1965. She then became a homemaker for 17 years, fulfilling her true vocation as that of loving mother to her only son Joe.
After the death of her husband, in 1984, she attended and graduated from business school, then began work as an executive administrative secretary for the director of the Downriver Community Conference (DCC) in Southgate, MI. In February 2007, after 20 years of excellent service to the DCC, Bea retired and moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, to be near her son, Joe, daughter-in-love, Julia and two beloved grandchildren, Tori and Peter. Always a devoted and caring friend, Bea never lost contact with her Michigan family and many special friends from the DCC and across the U.S.
In Greensboro, Christ United Methodist Church was adopted by this faithful Christian woman. She attended services regularly with her family beside her, delighting especially in the beautiful gifts of music offered in each service. Bea was especially active in the Tuesday morning knitting circle, and these ladies became her special Greensboro family where she enjoyed their fellowship and the opportunity to share her talent for knitting and working on special projects that would bless the members of the community and even U.S. Veterans and active duty soldiers.
Bea is survived by her son Joe, his wife, Julia, and her grandchildren, Tori and Peter Geniac; her brother, James Robert Green, Jr., sister Judith Belva Manning (Pat), both of Michigan; and brother Robert Thomas Green (Patricia) of Kentucky.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband Robert, and infant son, Robert Theodore Geniac, Jr.
Bea will also be especially missed by her extended Greensboro family of Julia's parents, Charles and Aurora Almy, their children and grandchildren.
A celebration of Bea's life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 4 p.m. with a reception to follow in the church parlor. Later this year, a memorial service will be held at her home church, Rockwood First Congregational Church in Michigan.
Memorials contributions may be made to Rockwood First Congregational Church, 22600 Mather St., Rockwood, MI 48173 or Christ United Methodist Church, 410 N. Holden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.
