Not only did Ellen help me through a scary breadt cancer scare, but she also helped me with my IVF journey. Wish Ellen could see the beautiful 22 year old woman she helped bring into this world.

So,so sorry to hear of your passing ...... Sure would have wanted to let you know of your great work with my breast cancer surgery l4 years ago this month. Diagonsed as 3B - you told my husband I had a "50-50 chance".....wishing you could know that I am healthy and happy with no reoccurances thanks to your fine care. Always will be thankful for you in my life.

As a classmate of Ellen's in high school at the Academy of St. Joseph in Brentwood, New York, I was always impressed by Ellen's demeanor - which certainly must have contributed to her professionalism as a doctor. Her patients and colleagues must have really appreciated her. Ellen was wonderfully smart, friendly, kind and helpful to all. Heaven has gained a wonderful soul, and I send my deepest condolences to her loved ones.

I just found out about Dr. McCormick's passing while I was at Southside Hospital yesterday having a surgical procedure . I was so sad to hear about it. Dr.McComick operated on my breast cancer 9 yrs. ago. She was not only a great surgeon, but a kind & compassion human being. There should be many more physicians out there like her. What a tragic loss to all. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family as well.

Dr. MCCormick did my surgery. She was one of the most loving patient concerned Dr. I ever had . She made a big impression on me. RIP Dr. McCormick, God bless you . Robin

I worked with Dr. McCormick at SSH for many years and occasionally saw her in town. She was greatly respected, always kind, calm and pleasant. The world has lost a wonderful person and I am so very sorry her time here on earth was too short. My sincerest condolences to her entire family.

I was a patient of Dr. McCormick for the last few years.I didn't feel the white coat syndrome when I had an appointment with her.She made you feel at ease. She always had a smile & would give you encouragement. For that I am forever grateful. May she rest in peace.

I trained In Family Medicine at Southside Hospital in the mid 1990's and had the privilege of working with Ellen...she was a wonderful surgeon and an amazing woman!! She made a huge impression on all women in medicine that she met...God Bless her and keep her!

I lost touch with Ellen after our Senior year ended at the Academy of St. Joseph, in Brentwood, LI, NY. Ellen was a classy lady even as a girl in high school - smart, gracious, and she made it seem effortless to be terrific at everything she took on to do. My sincere condolences to Ellen's family and loved ones.

In April 2008 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr. McCormick performed two lumpectomies and talked me out of having a mastectomy.i had been closely monitored by her , what delight every time I had an appointment to see her. It was more like seeing an old dear friend. I just came back from good Sam women's imaging to have a mammogram. I always ask for her. Imagine my shock and sadness to learn she had passed. I will always keep her in my heart. Ther will never be another surgeon like her to show such kindness to her patient. She played key role in this breast cancer journey I have been on. I feel the loss of beautiful lady.

I just heard of Ellen's passing, I was so saddened. I have known Ellen for so long as a family friend and a surgeon, but her friendliness and compassion will long be remembered , and her great easy smile and laugh. I will miss her. Ellen was the best neighbor....always there for support ,even standing outside operating room the night my daughter was born. I'll always remember her smile and laughter during all those fun chats sitting by the pool.

Dr Ellen, Great South Bay Surgical will never be the same without you. You were our first female surgeon. I was so happy that day you came, we were tilting the scales against the guys! You were so loved by all your patients and had a special way of making them feel calm. But it wasn't just your patients, you truly cared for the staff and always asked about our families. You were one special lady. We love you and we will miss you.

My deepest condolences to Dr.Ellen's family. As a night nurse in ICU,I never feared calling her at all hours of the night because I knew she respected my judgement in making a call regarding her patient.She was a warm and caring person both to her patients and to the nursing staff that she worked with at Southside Hospital. She always had a smile and a hello for everyone. May she rest in peace.

As a new nurse working nights one of the scariest things I had to do was call a doctor in the middle of the night. I was always happy when Dr. Ellen was on, I knew she wouldn't be angry. I am proud to have worked with Ellen for many years. She was a kind, caring person. May God be with you all during this difficult time. I hope it gives you comfort knowing what a wonderful person she was and how many lives she touched.

I was a classmate and friend of Ellen's at ASJ. My brother Rich Murphy knew her when he was the CEO of Good Sam and told me of Ellen's passing. I just wanted to say that my memories of her are of one of the nicest people in our class. Amazingly bright but kind to all. I'm sure she will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
